lessons from America

A moment for political junkies everywhere

I love this wonderful piece of Americana.  There are two places in the US which vote earlier than everyone else – at midnight east coast time on election day.  Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, is the main location. It gets its moment in the media limelight each election. And this year is no exception.  The 21 voters have all cast their ballots and the result is known: Obama 15 – McCain 6.  That’s actually a remarkable result, as it was all the way back to the 1968 when a Democrat won there.  Perhaps this a portent of good things to come today?
