Perhaps the folk in this purblind area of our treasured isle are not actually too bothered. The problem is not who is listening but do they want to listen?  One suspects that Joe Public has lost interest, totally, in the daily round of British politics. He is not interested in the big high-ground, nor the ideological stances.  He merely wants an efficient government, a competent government, a responsible government - one that does not lie, nor obfuscate, nor throw his tax-payments around on what he perceives as undeserving causes. He wants desperately to feel that the folk elected are worthy of his trust.  Poor devil.</description>
